Running Clock

I've decided to start a new feature here on BLT called "Running Clock." In this space, I will post random emails that I receive from Dan-O-Clock throughout the day because, let's face it, it would be selfish of me to keep these all to myself. I digress.

First, I get this:

White Sox, Padres Agree To Peavy Trade
By Cork Gaines [May 21 at 1:28pm CST]

1:27pm: Gonzales has more from Linebrink about his conversation with Peavy. Linebrink didn't see the AL/NL thing as a big concern for Peavy.

Also, Diamond Leung passes along a Ned Colletti interview with Dan Patrick today. The Dodgers GM spoke to Towers about a Peavy trade as recently as a month ago but the asking price was too high. Meanwhile the Red Sox have not been involved, according to Nick Cafardo of the Boston Globe.

Followed by this:

"I think I hate the Red Sox more than the Yankees now. I hate this, look at the bolded update. Why does ANYONE feel the need to report on whether the Red Sox were involved in the Peavy talks. Has ANYONE ever mentioned them as a possibility before? They haven’t been in any of the rumors and they aren’t one of the teams he approved a deal. Beyond that, here is what Peavy cares about:

1- Contending team- Red Sox are perennial contenders
2- National League team- So close! But the Red Sox are in the American League
3- West Coast, or at least Midwest team- So close again! They are just ONE region away on the East Coast
4- Peavy named only Cubs, Dodgers, Braves, or Astros as teams he’ll waive it for- It will take quite a bit of statistical analysis but at first glance I don’t think any of those teams are the same as the Red Sox."

In related news, the Cardinals, Pirates, Marlins, Nationals, Mets, Phillies, Dbacks, Rockies, Giants, Indians, Tigers, Royals, Twins, Orioles, Yankees, Rays, Blue Jays, Angels, A's, Rangers and Mariners have also not been involved.
