How come nobody is talking about what a genius Tony LaRussa is and what a miracle worker Dave Duncan is when the Cardinals get swept out of the playoffs? Could they have (gasp) underachieved?
The way the lifeless Cardinals were knocked out almost made the whole baseball season worth it. Thanks for the pick-me-up.

The Genius Larussa is 100% responsible for the Card's fine performance. Rather than trying to get the best record in the league(that would have given his team home field advantage)the Genius was busy giving everyone days off and innings of such as Wainright's 20th win attempt. He was ahead 6 to 1 when the genius took him out of the game to save him for the playoffs. They ended getting beat 12 to 6 and Wainright lost his chance at 20. Without a goal (such a best record in NL) others became complacent. Pujols,Franklin, Carpenter and the complete bullpen turned into mush without playing for something. Pujols played the worst defense I've ever seen him play in the last few games. I'm a Cubs fan so Sl Louis can keep LaRussa and we'll take Dave Duncan.
